OSTEOPOROTIC SPINE FRACTURES TREATED WITH KYPHOPLASTY OR VERTEBROPLASTY: A META-ANALYSIS

چکیده
ABSTRACT Kyphoplasty (KP) and vertebroplasty (VP) are both widely adopted treatments for patients with osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVF), however, which of these techniques is more effective has not yet been established. We performed a systematic review articles, followed by meta-analysis, in an attempt to establish the differences between KP VP. Initially, 187 articles were obtained, 20 systematically reviewed submitted meta-analysis. Thus, 2,226 comprised universe present article, 1202 whom underwent 1024 The statistically significant results observed included lower mean bone cement leakage (ml) group kyphoplasty, OR: 1.50 [CI95%: 1.16 - 1.95], p <0.05; shorter surgical time (minutes), 0.45 [CI90% 0.08 0.82], <0.1, VP as compared group; postoperative Oswestry Disability Index score group, −0.14 −0.28 0.01], <0.05. was improving physical function had frequency when VP, although it requires longer time. Level evidence III; Systematic level III studies.

Controversial Issues in Kyphoplasty and Vertebroplasty in Osteoporotic Vertebral Fractures
Kyphoplasty (KP) and vertebroplasty (VP) have been successfully employed for many years for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral fractures. The purpose of this review is to resolve the controversial issues raised by the two randomized trials that claimed no difference between VP and SHAM procedure. In particular we compare nonsurgical management (NSM) and KP and VP, in terms of clinical para...

متن کاملPercutaneous Vertebroplasty in Iranian Patients with Osteoporotic Vertebral Fractures
Background: Osteoporotic compression vertebral fractures are common clinical problems. In those with refractory fractures, percutaneous cement augmentation has been suggested. The aim of this study was to evaluate the functional outcome of percutaneous vertebroplasty in Iranian patients with refractory osteoporotic fractures. Methods: We retrospectively studied 37 osteoporotic fractures in 28 p...
متن کاملKyphoplasty versus vertebroplasty for painful osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures—which one is better? A systematic review and meta-analysis
BACKGROUND Whether kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty is better for painful osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture is a widely debated issue. Studies on the comparison of the 2 approaches are relative limited and a wide variation exists in the patient population, study design, and results. These factors make it difficult for workers in this field to know the exact value of the 2 approaches. O...
متن کاملDoes Percutaneous Vertebroplasty or Balloon Kyphoplasty for Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures Increase the Incidence of New Vertebral Fractures? A Meta-Analysis.
BACKGROUND Because of an aging population, osteoporotic vertebral fractures are becoming more frequent.Conservative therapy was considered the gold standard for treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) in the past. Percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) or balloon kyphoplasty (BKP) as minimally invasive techniques are new treatments that are widely used for painful OVCFs. However...
